Saudi King Abdullah backs Egypt's military ruler

Facing condemnation at every hand from the West, Egypt’s military rulers received a powerful shot in the arm from Riyadh Friday, Aug. 16, with an unprecedented public assurance from Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdel Aziz that the kingdom supports Egypt in the fight “against terrorism” – the military rulers’ term for Muslim Brotherhood resistance. Morsi supporters 'torch 3 churches' in #Egypt

Supporters of deposed Islamist president Mohamed Morsi torched three churches in central Egypt on Wednesday in reprisal attacks as police dispersed demonstrations in Cairo, reports said.The assailants threw firebombs at Mar Gergiss church in Sohag, a city with a large community of Coptic Christians who comprise up to 10 percent of Egypt's 84 million people, causing it to burn down, the official MENA news agency said.

Barack Obama said that he was troubled by Morsi's removal, and warned that US authorities were reviewing aid to Egyptian military – but he stopped short of calling the army's intervention a coup. He also condemned the arrest of Morsi and members of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Yes, Morsi was elected through a democratic process -- and The White House was quick to congratulate him for it, despite his ties to the Muslim Brotherhood.  But he represents the imposition of Islamist rule in Egypt that threatens the stability of the Middle East and the foreign policy objectives of the United States ... and the protests calling for his ouster dwarf anything that was seen before Obama pressured our ally, Hosni Mubarak, to resign  in response to them.

ANTI-MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD PROTESTS IN EGYPT: LARGEST POLITICAL EVENT IN WORLD HISTORY
