Numbers of Mean and Hungry Monster Sharks are increasing in Australias Queensland...

THE state's top shark hunter says a spike in monster sharks caught off Queensland shows the deadly predators are thriving in our waters.

More "dangerous" specimens larger than 2m were hooked last year than in any year since 2010, a comparison of available data shows.

The government's Shark Control Programcaptured 686 sharks in 2013 - fewer than the previous year - but more were at the big end of the scale.Most were tiger sharks (248), followed by bull whalers (137) and great whites (6) and the largest was a 4.72m tiger shark off Yaroomba on the Sunshine Coast....
