And Maine man hiking with a group in a northeastern Canadian national park was dragged from his tent and mauled by a polar bear last week, despite the fact that their encampment was surrounded by an electric fence.
Dyer was mauled by the bear but was dropped after the other group members fired flares to scare the bear off.
