Extreme bushfire season ahead for Gold Coast after big wet

THE Gold Coast is facing an extreme fire season with the fuel load at record highs and firefighters warning homes could be lost.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Authority bushfire education officer Len Jeavons said the fuel load had reached dangerous levels in some areas of the Hinterland."We have had a lot of rain the last few seasons and the fuel load is double the normal levels in some areas," he said. http://www.goldcoast.com.au/article/2013/08/09/456176_gold-coast-news.html
