Gold Coast's Miss Indy competition ditched

After 20 years of Indy girls strutting their stuff trackside, the Gold Coast 600 has dropped its annual model competition.

The competition has traditionally been a major event for aspiring Australian models, including Jennifer Hawkins, however was it recently ditched after a lengthy on-track battle with organisers of the rival Miss V8 Supercar competition.

In 2008, the Gold Coast Indy 300 was replaced by the Gold Coast V8 Supercars event – known as the Gold Coast 600 – when the American ChampCar series, previously known as the Indy Car series, pulled out of the Surfers Paradise annual attraction.
