MOUNT Isa is experiencing a shift in the real estate market after a rental shortage early in the year.

The Glencore Xstrata merge, fly-in, fly-out contracts and more renters becoming owners are believed to be contributing to the changes.Jays Real Estate principal Sophie Keily said there had been a increasing number of properties available on both the rental and sales market in the past few weeks."It's a combination of reasons I think," she said. "We have got rental people moving across to houses, it's a transitioning of people finding something better."
