Lone female anteater named Armani stuns keepers with birth

A giant anteater has stunned keepers after suddenly giving birth despite having been separated from her mate.Staff at LEO Zoological Conservation Centre in Greenwich, Connecticut, noticed the anteater, named Armani, had given birth in April, Greenwich Time reports.But Armani's mate, Alf, had been removed from the enclosure in August, when the female anteater gave birth to their first baby, named Alice.Keepers are now wondering how Armani gave birth again eight months later when anteaters have a gestation period of six months.
