IT'S winter and it's cold. Is that
enough to put you in a bad mood? You bet it is. But nobody likes a grump
and feeling down in the dumps just sucks out your energy.
With this in mind, we've pulled together a little survival guide
for the days when the dark clouds just seem to follow you around and
around and around.Melbourne psychologist Dr Melissa Keogh, who is
an expert in handling our emotions, says the first step to getting over
the grumps is reminding yourself that all feelings are fleeting...."Changes in mood can be the result of the development of a set of
negative or irrational thoughts, often in response to an event. For
instance, hearing a song that reminds you of an ex may trigger a set of
thoughts - like, 'I'll never meet anyone else' or 'I'm worthless', and a
subsequent feeling, like sadness.
